Claudelands Event Centre Hamilton, is host to the 2021 National Franchise Conference over 2 nights and 2 days, Wednesday the 30th of June- Friday the 2nd of July. The Annual AGM will be held at 5.30pm Wednesday the 30th of June followed by the FANZ Welcome Networking Function at 6.30pm at the Novotel Tainui. Conference at Claudelands starts at 8.45am on Thursday 1st July. Thursday evening will be a welcome jaunt into the country to experience and share in a Vineyard experience to remember at Vilagrad Winery. Friday will see our final day of conference finishing at 4pm allowing delegates time to begin their journey home for the weekend.

Claudelands was awarded “Large Venue of the Year” at the 2019 EVANZ Awards,  Claudelands is a modern solution to Conferencing in New Zealand with plenty of free onsite parking and is situated locally to the two preferred hotels offered this year.

Ed Quinlan

Ed Quinlan is the President of Chem-Dry, the world’s largest carpet, upholstery, tile and wood cleaning company. Fourteen years ago, Ed started in the company’s marketing department, and with a focus on franchisee success, worked to eventually oversee the organisation’s Franchise Operations team before being named President in 2019. Chem-Dry, started in 1977 with a core focus on innovation, is currently in 57 countries (including a fantastic operation in New Zealand) with more than 4,000 franchises worldwide. Chem-Dry franchisees focus on deep cleaning processes that make homes Healthier for families, kids and pets.

Michelle van Gaalen

Managing Director
Michelle has had an eclectic career both in New Zealand and offshore, primarily in consumer services industries. Michelle is Managing Director of Smith&Smith®/Laser Plumbing and Electrical, both iconic NZ brands. Smith&Smith® is a corporate-owned and operated business, while Laser Plumbing & Electrical is a franchise / member-operated business. Prior to her current role, Michelle was CEO at Pinnacle Life and has had over thirty years of experience in business and leadership roles. She is also currently a member of the board of the NZ Government Superannuation Fund Authority and a Director of Kiwi Insurance Limited. Michelle is passionate about the role of leaders in moving New Zealand forward, and the personal responsibility we need to take to be the best leaders that we can be, each and every day.

Evening Functions

6.30-9.30pm Wednesday Welcome Function 

Join us for the FANZ 2021 Conference Welcome Function at the Novotel Tainui Hotel. This will be a relaxing evening for all to enjoy with plenty of food throughout the evening allowing delegates time to arrive in Hamilton at their own leisurely time, check into their accommodation and join us for dinner and drinks.

5.25-10pm Thursday Networking Function

Meet at the Novotel Tainui Hotel at 5.25pm sharp as the buses leave at 5.35pm to take you to the Vilagrad Winery. Come dressed in smart casual clothes and a warm jacket. The Vilagrad Winery has a unique Mediterranean style atmosphere with historic buildings and 100 year old grapevines flowing through the restaurant, a glorious estate, 5 generations in the making. We will enjoy a private tasting with one of the Vineyard’s viticulturist who will enlighten you on the topic of viticulture and winemaking, then the evening will be finished off with fine wine and great Mediterranean influenced food.

Buses will leave the estate on a rotation basis for those that wish to enjoy an early evening and those that wish to take advantage of a full evening of camaraderie, great food and wine.
